Robotic Surgery

Dr Awad began robotic surgery in 2017, initially in Sydney, at Macquarie University Hospital. He quickly adopted the new operating platform for the benefit of his patients. Prostate, kidney and bladder cancer surgery is now being done robotically.

After extensive lobbying, Dr Awad was able to convince Ramsay Hospital to invest in a Da Vinci Surgical Robot for Port Macquarie and did the first case in 2020.

He is the highest volume robotic cancer surgeon in the Port Macquarie region

Robotic surgery in urology offers several advantages:

  1. Precision and Control: Enhanced dexterity and precision through robotic instruments allow for delicate and complex procedures.
  2. Minimally Invasive: Smaller incisions result in less pain, reduced blood loss, and shorter recovery times.
  3. Reduced Risk of Complications: Improved visualization and control lower the chances of surgical complications.
  4. Faster Recovery: Patients typically experience quicker return to normal activities compared to traditional surgery.
  5. Better Outcomes: Higher accuracy leads to improved surgical outcomes and better overall patient satisfaction.

These benefits make robotic surgery a preferred option for many urological procedures.
